History and Mission
Established in August 2013, Department of Public Administration offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as master degree for on-job public administrators. Before the establishment of National Dong Hwa University in 1994, NDHU already offered credit programs required for Master of Public Administration (MPA). Various courses designed for local public servants, mainly from Hualien, Taitung, and Yilan County, has burgeoned ever since 1995. Approved by Ministry of Education in 1999, the department offered formal MPA modules and issued master degrees of public administration.
In 2002, National Dong Hwa University founded Graduate Institute of Public Administration, including the division of ‘National Administration’ and the division of ‘Mainland China and Cross-Strait Relationship’. In the end, approved by Ministry of Education, Department of Public Administration was established in 2003.
